Storage batteries capture surplus power, this is where your solar PV system is producing more electricity than your property requires at a given time. Without storage batteries, this energy would normally be sent to the national grid.

The stored electricity can be used at a time when your solar PV system is not producing enough electricity to meet the demand of your property.

 

If you have an existing Solar PV system, a battery storage system can also be retrofitted without affecting your entitlement to feed-in-tariff payments.

 

The latest battery technology enables storage batteries to be charged from the grid so if you have “time of use” or “off peak” electricity tariffs, the battery can be programmed to charge from the grid when electricity is cheap and then discharge to power the appliances in your property when electricity is expensive.
